13 Million students get bullied every year.

One out of every five students report being bullied.

Students who experience bullying are at increased risk for depression, anxiety, sleep difficulties, lower academic achievement, and dropping out of school.

The percentages of individuals who have experienced cyberbullying at some point in their lifetimes have more than doubled (18% to 37%)

More than 311,000  students at 331 schools have experienced gun violence since Columbine.

At least 185 children, educators and other people have been killed in assaults, and another 369 have been injured.

Seven in 10 are under the age of 18, which means that — often because of an adult’s negligence — dozens of children have access to deadly weapons.

everyone involved.

  • It teaches students that they do have the power to help others and take action in a safe way that won’t get them singled out.

  • It lets everyone know that things are changing in your school, and that everyone is expected to be part of the solution.

  • It place bullies and possible drug users or sellers on notice that anyone and everyone is being asked constantly to share information.

  • It lets students know never to bring a weapon to school or threaten others online.

  • It helps to solve the threat of theft on school grounds

  • It lets students who have struggled with bullies in the past know that you care and are making the changes necessary to make the school a safe place

Spirit Desk

There is an important sense of safety instilled while using the Spirit Desk. The students walk past the desk every morning on arrival and each afternoon as they leave. The fact that it is anonymous makes it easy for students to communicate with you. Students can praise each other’s actions with the drop of a note or start the process of ending their own or another student’s plight of pain and suffering by sharing needed information.

The desk is primarily used by students and staff. However, parents are welcome to use the Spirit ask as well—in fact, they are encourage to use it! With consistent use of the desk, no problem has to go unattended for very long, which can prevent larger problems from developing later.

At the Spirit Desk we create this new school culture by using the

“tools of now” to create excitement, enthusiasm, responsibility and respect.

These tools are immediate:

  • Video

  • Internet

  • Photos

  • Paper & Pencil

  • Positive Reinforcement
